Anti Modern Slavery

Anti-Modern Slavery Policy

Tonelli Atelier is committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in all its forms, including forced labour, bonded labour, human trafficking, and child labour — within our own operation and across our supply chain.

Our studio

Tonelli Atelier is a one-maker studio based in Perth, Western Australia. Every bag is designed and handcrafted by a single maker, made to order. There is no factory line, no outsourced labour, and no anonymous production. This gives us complete visibility over how our products are made and by whom.

Our supply chain

We source our leather from Australian suppliers and use locally produced kangaroo, sheep, and cow leather. Our hardware is 316L stainless steel. We choose our suppliers deliberately and favour local, traceable sourcing that allows us to understand the conditions under which our materials are produced. We expect all suppliers to share our commitment to lawful, safe, and fair working conditions.

Our commitment

We are committed to:

  • Ensuring no forced, bonded, or involuntary labour is used at any stage of our production or supply chain
  • Never using child labour and complying with all applicable minimum-age laws
  • Treating everyone we work with fairly, safely, and with dignity
  • Reviewing our sourcing relationships to uphold these standards as the business grows

Legal context

The Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) sets out Australia's framework for combating modern slavery. While mandatory reporting obligations under the Act apply to entities with annual consolidated revenue of at least AUD $100 million, Tonelli Atelier adopts these principles voluntarily as a reflection of our values as a slow-fashion, made-to-order studio.

Definitions

For the purposes of this policy, "modern slavery" includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded labour, human trafficking, and the worst forms of child labour, as defined under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) and related international conventions.
